About the Department
The Department of English has been instrumental since its inception under the Anurag Group of Institutions. The department has been striving inevitably to improve not only the communication skills of the students, but also to make them proficient in all aspects of Personality Development that would help the students to have a successful career and professional life. The Department has been extending its support for all departments of Engineering in all semesters. In addition, it is conducting mock-Interviews to III year students of all branches as they may have Campus Placement drives in II semester onwards. It is also supporting School of Pharmacy, School of Management i.e.,MBA, and school of Computer Aplication i.e.,MCA. The department has been organizing Literary fest every year as part of the Annual Day celebrations of Anurag University.

To impart English language and soft skills to the students using the latest English language teaching approaches and methods for their overall skill and personality development.

Dr G V S Ananta Lakshmi
HOD Professor, Head – English department, Anurag University.
Dr. G.V.S. Ananta Lakshmi, a Ph.D. holder in American literature, boasts 24 years of teaching experience at both UG and PG levels. Her expertise encompasses communication skills, soft skills, American English, ELT, TESL, CALL, teacher education, TBLL, interview skills, and curriculum design. Renowned for guiding 1200 student language projects, she has published 46 papers in esteemed journals and conferences. As a member of the Katherine Anne Porter Society, IATEFL, and ELTAI, she also serves as President of ELTAI AU Chapter, where she initiated the India Reads Program at Anurag University. She has designed numerous courses and new labs as the Chairperson of the Board of Studies, English at Anurag University, and holds memberships in various prestigious institutions. Awarded the “Women in Education” accolade by Dewang Mehta National Education Awards, she secured a 16.57 lakh AICTE-funded project under the SPDC Scheme in April 2020 and currently guides three Ph.D. scholars. She also received an international patent (No. 202241070702 A) for her work on the effectiveness of linguistic grammar on ELT speakers in higher education institutes.
